Student Evaluations
My overall instructor rating ranges from 4.4 to 5.0. After my first semester teaching, my instructor rating remained above the School of Aging Studies and College of Behavioral and Community Sciences. While I still received high ratings, there is a slight decrease between the Summer 2020 and Summer 2021 semesters. During this time I transitioned to a larger class size, then worked on updating the course to match the newest edition of the textbook, followed by another increase in class size. By the Fall 2021 semester, I fully adjusted to a large, in-person class and received a near-perfect rating of 4.9.
My students' GPAs are consistently above the department and college averages throughout all semesters. I believe this is a result of my teaching practices to engage students with course content in various ways, especially connecting what we learn to their personal and professional lives. When grading assignments, I focus on student learning outcomes and provide feedback for students to continue improving their work to receive a higher grade on the next assignment. This mindset of student improvement yields higher grades and allows students to see their development throughout the semester.
